An old Social Club with a Modern Twist

We sat down with the founder of Brampton Social Club, a community bar and social venue on Chatsworth Road in Brampton, Chesterfield, to talk about the idea behind the venue and its place on the ever-popular Brampton Mile.

During the week, Brampton Social Club offers a relaxed, welcoming space for locals, while at weekends it transforms into a higher-energy destination for nights out. Having lived in the area all his life, the founder saw an opportunity for another premium bar in Brampton - one that reflected the long-standing tradition of meeting friends and moving from pub to pub along Chatsworth Road.

What sets Brampton Social Club apart is its blend of a traditional social club atmosphere with a modern twist and retro feel. Working alongside Pizza Pi, the venue offers food perfect for sharing with a beer or wine. Customers can also enjoy live sport, great music, and regular events, including the popular Tuesday night quiz.

Hospitality runs in the family. Growing up at The Red Lion in Stonedge, the founder was influenced by his father’s reputation as an exceptional host. He later worked at The Cavendish Hotel in Baslow, before gaining further experience across the food and beverage industry. In the late 1990s, he joined Global Brands, where he was involved during the launch of VK, gaining valuable insight into the late-night industry. In 2015, he opened Apartment Bar in Chesterfield, which continues to thrive today.

What he enjoys most about Brampton Social Club is creating a safe, welcoming place to socialise. From the start, the venue adopted a family-style approach, where whether customers come in for a quiet pint or a chat, everyone feels welcome.

A lifelong Chesterfield local, the founder lives just a short walk from the venue and has deep roots in Brampton. He’s passionate about supporting independent businesses in the area, including Junction Bar, Deja Vu, Brampton Brewery, and Ninety Four Coffee. The strong sense of community - shown clearly during the October 2023 floods, when Lifehouse Church played a vital role - is a big part of what makes Brampton special.

Looking ahead, Brampton Social Club will continue to welcome locals and visitors with Pizza Pi, live music, quiz nights, and more, with exciting developments planned over the coming months.
