Forest’s journey into floristry began at home, initially as a creative outlet while caring for her children. As friends and customers began asking her to create pieces for them, the work naturally grew. Collaborations with other florists followed, alongside experimentation with new designs, before eventually moving into wedding floristry. Over time, Forest immersed herself in learning about flowers, and what began as an outlet quickly became a deep and lasting passion.
One of the most rewarding parts of running Ink and Earth Studio is being challenged by new briefs. Forest particularly enjoys projects that involve building structures or creating something she hasn’t made before, working through the mechanics, materials, and design process from concept to completion. Developing mood boards, exploring ideas, and bringing creative visions to life is a part of the work she thrives on.
Teaching is another aspect Forest loves. Sharing knowledge, guiding others through the creative process, and helping people make something with their own hands is something she finds incredibly fulfilling. These sessions often become therapeutic spaces, where creativity allows people to open up, an experience Forest describes as similar to art therapy. It’s an area she’s keen to develop further as Ink and Earth continues to grow.
