Junction Bar: Eight Years at the Heart of Brampton

We caught up with Michael, co-owner of Junction Bar, a well-established independent bar on Chatsworth Road in Brampton, Chesterfield, to talk about the venue’s journey, its place on the Brampton Mile, and what keeps customers coming back.

Junction Bar was opened eight years ago by Michael and his business partner Simon, with the vision of creating a drink-led bar in Brampton that focused on quality, atmosphere, and great service. Over the years, the venue has continued to evolve, introducing a food offering during the week, alongside live music at weekends and a rotating line-up of food pop-ups throughout the year.

Brampton was a natural choice for the pair. Long known as one of Chesterfield’s most popular areas for drinking, the Brampton Mile has a strong pub history and a loyal customer base. When the opportunity arose to take on the building on Chatsworth Road, it was one they simply couldn’t pass up.

Michael has always been drawn to the hospitality industry. For him, it’s about people - delivering great service, keeping up with current trends, and thriving in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

What truly sets Junction Bar apart is its team. Michael believes the venue wouldn’t be what it is without the people behind the bar. While drinks can be taught, creating a welcoming atmosphere can’t, and customer service has always been at the heart of the business.

As Junction Bar enters its eighth year, Michael sees simply still being here as the biggest achievement. After navigating challenging times, including the Covid-19 pandemic, the bar is now busier than ever and continues to be a firm favourite on the Brampton Mile.
